The campaign to create the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center has enjoyed amazing success thanks to overwhelming community support. To date, with $7.8 million secured the campaign goal of $8 million is within sight. Incredibly, that amount of money has been generously contributed by just 392 donors representing individuals, businesses, government and foundations.
The campaign includes $7 million for the capital project and $1 million for a growing endowment. It is particularly important for the Heritage Center to attain a greater measure of financial independence and stability. The initial $1 million in seed money for a growing endowment fund will ensure that the Heritage Center will continue to serve its constituency. The Enid Community Foundation will administer the endowment fund.
The Oklahoma Historical Society will continue to support personnel costs and annual operating expenses. Additional funds will be generated from the endowment and revenue streams created by admissions, facility rentals, a membership program and income from larger educational offerings at the Heritage Center.
